Peter Trinh’s Boat Person recounts the harrowing fall of Saigon, escaping to freedom against the perils of the high seas – facing storms, pirates and starvation, and his family’s resettlement in the United States.
Maria Cheng’s Antecedents recollects with humor and grace the Americanization of a precocious Chinese teenager as she embraces American icons and her ancestors. This work features two excerpts from Cheng’s award winning Spirit & Sworded Treks and additional new writings.
This production won First Prize and several other awards at the Colorado Community Theater Coalition Festival in June 2016, and will compete in the AACT National Competition this coming summer.
